Cervical Ultrasound Scans

The measurement of cervical length (neck of the womb) by transvaginal ultrasound scan allows for an assessment of the chance of preterm birth. The ideal time for such an assessment is between 16-20 weeks but in pregnancies at high-risk of preterm birth, earlier assessments from 16 weeks may be necessary.
